K1300GT "Optimized" full fairing

BMW speaks of an "Optimized" full fairing in their literature but does not state how it has been "optimized" for 2009.

I have Googled it to death but can't find an answer.

Could anybody help me understand?

Sure, the marketing department said "we need a word that will make everyone think we've finally got the perfect windshield". Rumor is that they are trying to do the same with the seat but nobody feels they can be that convincing.

First, read this to see all the changes from the K12 to the K13, in great detail.

My understanding is that in addition to the side vents (to help exhaust hot air from the engine bay), they made the front of the fairing a bit "skinnier" for "better aerodynamic efficiency." No, I haven't measured it, but that's the rumor, anyway.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Oh so with the 1300 you might actually be able to see the front tire while riding it?

Sometimes you just need to check and see if the wheels on the bus are still going round and round..........

Gt fairing

How about this bit from page 65>>>

Protectors integrated in the side sections reduce the risk of damage in a fall
or accident. Hence, the machine is now well protected should it fall over in an
accident or when not properly parked.
