That was what I was about to do, when they suddenly came up with the $3000.00 off of MSRP price for the X-Challenge. $5500 was too good to pass up, and I'm keeping the K1200GT for the time being.
I think I would have sold the GT if I'd gotten the F800GS, so this way I have two bikes instead of one. One for long distance on pavement, the other for fire roads off to find ghost towns. Just need to get a better seat for the X...
I got a very slight discount on the bike as F800GS is the most popular model of BMW Motorrad around the world. So finally I paid EUR12200 - thus including ABS, Heated grips, Centrestand, Onboard comp, OEM alarm and OEM Handprotectors/the gift of my dealer/.
The list price was EUR13500.
I am going to keep my K12GT too - for the Alps and other European trips. F8GS - for local roads and Eastern adventures like Baikal lake, Kazakhstan/and other -stans/, Pamir and Mongolia. But have to test it first and to break it in - to be confident about the ride.
OEM Bottom Large protection, SW-Motech crashbars and Wundelich shock protector are ready to be installed once the bike is assembled/she is still in the crate/.
Caribou 36L cases are on the way.
Some 11 kg of different bits have been ordered from Touratech.
The main question is spring - we still are having -5C at night and a lot of snow.
