Air filter seal?

What goo do you use around the seal when you replace the air filter? Both sides?

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.

I dunno if you can use anything to seal the huge gap that would be effective in the long run. Hence I'm considering buying the Evoluzione performance air filter from the Pirates' Lair. More than just a bit of expensive 1-2hp bling, the billet bracket surrounding the actual filter helps to seal those pesky gaps in the GT's tubing.

From an engineering standpoint, shame on BMW for such crappy fitment. For what this bike cost there should have been much tighter tolerances - IMO (no comments please, Ken ).

$150., yikes! I have not done the '08 yet, but the '07 did not have any 'gaps', just a crappy fit which snugged down once latched. I'm just wondering what everyone uses to grease up the foamlike gasket.

No grease is recommended.

I see Pirate's air cleaner is cleanable. I wonder if it's as bad as a K&N? I'm afraid to ask Amber.

What was that middle thang?

Like someone said to me - you already got the $20,000 starter kit, so what?

Upon reading the CD more closely, you're right...no goo. Thanks!
