Seats, seats, and more seats

Ok I've decided that since I love my GT and I want to put some real miles on it that I'm going to need a real seat. Having owned a Sargent, Mayer, Corbin, and a Russell I'm going to go for the Russell. Yes it's on the Fugly side but nothing I've ever had has been as comfortable. So what I'm wondering is there anyone here that has a spare set of stock seats they wouldn't mind loaning out ( or selling cheap) for a couple of weeks in May.. I would of course pay for any and all shipping costs, and if this magnifcent person happens to be at the RA rally in July I can also offer them numerous FREE libations :-)

Erik,

I put a Sargent on my K1200GT so I could possibly loan you my stock seat. How could I resist the allure of FREE libations at the Rally. Let me know how you would arrange shipping to and from.

Thanks,
Eric

Shipping? It's only ~850 miles, and you're both riding the Ultimate Grand Tourer. You could even split the trip and meet in Akron.

I just got a Russel and you are right on, it is both ugly and very comfortable. I went with black leather in a diamond pattern. The diamond pattern would look great on a Triumph Bonneville, but it is not quite right for the GT. I wish I had got the half moon pattern. I saw one a while back, and the half moon pattern looks way better on the GT. <<<Softtail>>>>

As for the pattern I'll prolly do the rectangles. Since I have a grey bike I'm going to do the med grey leather for seating area and black or graphite for the sides. Larry thanks for the offer, but Eric (Tcsport) has been gracious enough to loan me his, so I'm all set :-)

I don't know, maybe I haven't been on the bike long enough in one day, or maybe my seat is shaped funny , but the stock seat is OK. I have the low seat set on the high setting. One thing that helps is that the seat is wide enough that it supports me under the sit bones. OTOH, I might change my mind after a very long day in the saddle.

This is very individual -- I have had to get an aftermarket seat on several bikes.

When in doubt, apply more throttle.
