Trailer Hitch?

I may be losing it, but I've been thinking about towing my dirt bike behind my 06 GT, I have a one rail bike trailer that weighs 140 lbs. http://trailerinabag.com/index.html And I want to pull a bike that weighs 250 lbs. Has anyone else put a trailer hitch on the GT yet? I'm having trouble finding someone who makes a trailer hitch for the 06 GT. Will this hurt the bike?

I may have found a company for the hitch. http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/hitch...bmwhitches.htm a bit pricey at $550.00 Still not sure if this is a good idea. Any advise?

It has been done, although not very often. Try putting "trailer hitch" in the "Search this Forum" link at the right side of the main K12/1300GT (Next Gen) forum page to get some hits. Try the same search in the K1200/1300GT (The Next Generation) forum to get a few more hits.

Success

With a little help from my friends we have success. Thanks to K-bikes member Mohler who sold me and installed a gently used dauntless motors hitch, and my local dealership who found a converter (from local auto parts store) for the GT canbus system I have trailer with lights and turn signals I can pull behind my bike. Tonight I loaded my 525 KTM, and went for a little test ride just as it was starting to rain. Only went about five miles reaching highway speeds. Tracked beautifully. I will try a longer interstate ride tomorrow and try to post some pictures.

Pic's

Got to ride with the trailer for about an hour. Mostly good other than above 60 mph at random times when the trailer tire hits a bump just right I get a rocking motion. I can slow down about 5 mph to get rid of the rocking, then resume speed. This won't work at interstate speeds, so I'm going to put in a Swivel Hitch Coupler.

Found the problem

Too late Mohler I'm loving the hitch!

Found the problem for the sway above 60 mph....The GT doesn't want to pull a KTM.
Don't ask be why, but when I put the G450x on the trailer the sway went away. I could drive all day at 70 mph with no sway. It's amazing how little differences can make all the difference.
