HELP - decisions, decisions...

I'm stuck - I am buying a ks bike, the problem is, I found a GREAT deal on an 08 k1200s, black (my favorite color for bikes), with less than 1000 miles, immaculate, around $13k. It's in another state, so I can't test drive it. I went to the dealer yesterday, and test drove the k1300s. Fell in love with the ride. $18,500. Are the improvements worth $5???

The quick answer is "No", unless you just want to spend $5K for what seems to me to be minor improvements. Does the 08 come with the same options, sidebags, anything else?
Where is the 08? Maybe someone here can check it out for you at least to give you some level of comfort.

I took a test rid for several hours o the 1300GT. I own a 2006 1200GT. A lot of small but important difference. this is a tatoally new bike incorporating all the addressed defiiences as well as other tweaks to the 1200. Even with a new airpox, abd software, ny 06 does not have the smoothness of the 09. Definitely no BBS, HI Idle or any flat spots in rolloing on in any gear. The transmission is not as clunky and ith just falls into the turn with just a slight motion of the body.
I am in the middle of making a trade up one of these near days in the future. It is just a case of how money it will take!!!!

09 is definitely better.

That's between you and your wallet.

There are a number of small changes that make a big difference overall, but the biggest change is that the fueling on the K13 bikes is simply awesome. Smooth, fast, and none of the hesitation or flat spots that many of us K12 riders have been living with.

So if the $5K is a huge burden on you, then the '08 is a perfectly fine bike at a great price. If it isn't, then get the K13 and don't look back.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Ask for the VIN number of the 2008 and compare it to this list for best fueling on K1200

Not the only factor to consider by my 08 GT has been pretty good so far with fueling issues, and it's a late 08 production, with the new airbox, and software. The only complaint I have regarding fueling is the abruptness with which the throttle closes. On the other hand we are starting to see electrical problems on the k1300's with regards to the new switches.
