Tires anyone?

So I was 'a wondering today...If the tire company's can make 'run flat' tires for high performance cars, how about bikes?
..any thoughts?

Not enough market for such a limited-production, high-dollar item. Unless the LEO's are using them?

Also, I believe the Paris-Dakar requires using a special "mousse" in their bike tires that doesn't let the tire go completely flat. Better for off-road I think, where you don't need to run tires as hard as on the street.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Aren't run flat auto tires based on the hardness of the sidewall?
Would that be a possible thing for a bike tire? Since there isn't much there to begin with.

I agree that I'm not sure such a thing would be possible or feasible. MC tire sidewalls are subject to tremendous forces during cornering and I'm sure that would make such technology difficult. Still, eventually I'm sure some company will figure it out.

Dunlop makes a Police tire with very thick side walls that will run flat. They use them on the Harley Davidson police bikes. Dealerships that service police department can get them.

After all the problem BMW auto owners have had with their runflats (noise, hard ride, tread separation, premature wear, high cost, lack of ready replacements, etc.) please do not wish that on us bikers.
