Bmw Moa Mileage Contest

While reading my BMW ON I noticed that MOA had set up a 2008 mileage contest, and lo and behold, our own Ken Meese came in 3rd in the State of California with 36,855 miles, and if I'm not mistake 9th nationally. Congrats Ken!!

Actually, the MOA contest is 6 months from April to October. You don't want to know how many miles I did overall last year, or how many tires I went through . . .

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Don't forget Beta testers write reviews, and get free product. Since you have reviewed about every aspect of the bike, the way I see it they owe you an 09.

You're my hero......

You might have actually put more miles on your bike than I did on my bike and two trucks! And in CA traffic too!

I don't have that mag, but how did the top woman mileager do?

If she didn't beat his mileage, I'll keep quiet.

That would be Margaret Peart from Australia with 58,328 miles in 6 months, which puts her second overall. I met her a couple of times last year and let me tell you, that lady can ride.

To give you some idea of what I mean, Margaret started the contest in April in Panama city as she was making her way from Ushuaia, Argentina up to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska (yes, the entire length of South America, Central America, and North America). From there, Margaret rode to Key West, Florida, which is the longest corner-to-corner ride you can go in the US. She also visited all 49 continental US states (in 10 days) and most Canadian provinces.

In fact, I also know the 2nd and 3rd place female finishers and those ladies could easily outride most of the guys I know.

I've also met or at least corresponded with most of the top-10 male riders. When you do this many miles, you're bound to run into some very interesting folks along the way.

Irv Seaver has a blue K1200 GT, used with over 90K on the odometer. Fellow flipped it for another K1200 GT. On a side note, I saw the red 1300, the color is much better in person. I do like the orange K1300S. However, my palms and back hurt after oogling it for about an hour.

Managed to get out of there without trading in. Guess I'm getting old.

Do you remember what they were asking for it?
