Replacement key problems

Got the 2008 GT a month ago.
For some reason the original plastic key did not work.
Dealer ordered a new one (steel - and free ) and sent it to my cabin instead of my house - knowing there was no way a UPS truck would get down my road in Northern New Hampshire during mud seasion I ordered two more keys($50). Took the bike for the six hundred oil change got the keys. The bike is the absolute balls - poor man's Zen (you guys all know this) ... anyway the keys don't work, I mean none of them!

How hard is this? - anyone else have this problem?

What a ya mean exactly? Won't turn, or getting the EWS on the screen or what?

Um, did you check the keys at the dealer before you took them away?

I hate to say it, but it's clearly a dealer problem that they need to sort out for you. Take everything back to them and have them make it right.

Yes, I agree, they are ordered by VIN, something tells me they gave you the wrong plastic key, then proceeded to order the other keys according to the VIN that the incorrect plastic key belongs to. Something like that.

PS I recommend checking the VIN on your title and comparing it to the actual VIN of the bike to make sure that's not messed up as well.

I have two spares, a metal key and a plastic one. Since I got the bike seven months ago I have not checked these spare keys. I did tonight -- they all work. Like the other guys posted, VIN problem?

When in doubt, apply more throttle.

Yup, the same thing happened to me, the VIN on the title/paperwork did not match the VIN on the bike. Someone had transposed a couple of numbers.

Even if the numbers match, someone in the office could have put the wrong spare key with the owners packet. Although I'd be afraid at this point because the spares that were ordered are wrong.
Looking at my spare plastic key, they used a nylon wire tie and attached this weird disc-like thing to it. On one side says "GKS", on the other side is the key code (mine starts with "KC" and has 4 numbers after that). If they asked for that code to order the key, and the key is wrong, it's a safe bet that this is the case (that just the wrong spare key was given to you). If they ordered it by VIN number, then yeah you have to research what VIN they used and if the dealer has everything FUBARed.
