Saw my first 1300GT yesterday...
Had a nice time at Holt BMW for their annual spring open house. Probably close to 75 bikes there throughout the time I was there. Good people, good food, always a nice ride to the place. Great dealer!
Saw my first 1300GT. My observations:
* Magnesium Beige Metallic looks great in person, better than the web site shows.
* The reservoirs on the handlebars are the cheapest looking things I've ever seen or imagined they would ever install on a bike like that. Completely visually disturbing, a total sham for the aesthetic design. It's been discussed here numerous times, but God, when you really see them.... I'm mean, REALLY.
* The switch work redesign is cheap too. Really crappy. It is well placed, but the quality suffers. Those switches look like they are going to break, wear out and get messed up in the rain. Too many switches!
* The vent on the side isn't too bad looking after all. Kinda cool.
Saw 2 other GT's there, which is nice to meet other owners as I rarely see any other ones on the road. Met a fellow with an '06 without the new airbox or software, and hasn't been able to get to the valve check after 30k+ and loves his bike. Pretty cool report as mine still has half that mileage.
Did a fly-by on route 50 as I was leaving- my Zumo recorded 140 mph...
