Brake Dust

Anyone notice that the rear brake throws much more brake dust on the rims than the front? I was surprized by this since I don't ride the rear brake at all. It seems like the proportioning valve directs much more braking to the rear caliper than my RT did.

Yeah I've noticed it, seems better now that I have a couple thou on it though.
I am wondering if it's because the saddlebags might keep the wind from blowing out away from the rim?

Good point, I didn't think of that. Small price to pay for the size of the side cases.

Nah, I can't see the brake dust under all that dirt & road grime. Maybe I should wash the bike more often than every 20K miles . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Integral ABS. The rear gets used whether or not you ever touch the foot pedal.

Besides, there are occasions where the rear brake is preferable. Low-speed maneuvers in questionable traction, scrubbing off a touch of speed entering a corner, suddenly dropping 5-10 mph when the V1 goes off without that tell-tale headlight dip, etc.

I have Intergal brake on my GT and don't get much dust at all. I do ride hard but not racing hard. I ride like I used to race cars, in like a Kitten, out like a Lion. I do use the rear brake at very low speed though.

Thats because I washed the bike, and took a 50 mile ride before these pictures. I can see I will be going to rear pads before the fronts on this bike, which is the exact opposite of my RT which had the fully intergral power brakes.
