New '07 Owner

Just making my first post and introducing my latest purchase. My dad took European delivery of his K75S many moons ago and that was the beginning of the BMW bug for me. though he never EVER let me ride it, it was always nice to hear it when he took it out of the garage. So, following in my dad's footsteps, I got myself a used K1200GT with 1355 miles on it. This bike came fully loaded, which just sweetened the deal.

Here is "Prince Eugene"

The only issue I have with it so far is the brake pad sensor light, and sometimes the idle is over 2,000rpm when at a stop light. I have to get used to the riding position because my rear end and my wrists are in some serious pain after a few hours. When I bought it, it had the tall Cee Bailey windscreen on it. I removed it and purchased the short windscreen and the headlight protector that a fellow enthusiast recommended.

On my first road trip, I managed to leave the owner's manual in a hotel room. If anyone knows where I can get a replacement, I'd appreciate it.

Welcome... Looks like a good buy! You have the slowest colour though.
I could be wrong but that looks like the "old" seat. A new version came out. I got mine replaced free of charge after a bit of a moan. Always worth a try. Other seats are available, browse the forum.
High idle... I'll say no more, I'm sure others will help you out there.

"Okay Paul, just shad'up!"

I got the same gorgeous color, and it's only SLOW 'cause it's been in the shop for 6 weeks with HI issues and not movin' nowhere in their parking lot.

And it's COLOR. What's with the extra "U" you guys use over there anyhoo? French dictionary vs. Webster's I gess. Brevity is sweet, so say my teecher.

Welcome and enjoy
Forget about cutting the grass, riding is more fun.
There might be a neigborhood kid who will cut the grass for a ride.

At least there is in my neighborhood.

First off WELCOME!!!

sounds like you need to take it in for the ECU upgrade and check this site on how to fix the wires for the brake sensor light. If the pads are ok, a lot of them has issues with the wire tie on the front of the steering tube being tightend too much and breaking the wire.

riding position: New seat! the choice is yours and they all fit different and the are many camps on who's is the best. Just try to find one your arse likes. for the wrists, Handle bar risers and for the knees peg lowers, there are many out there, one is suburban machinery.

Want to get rid of the cee bailey let me know i'm looking for one.

Good luck and enjoy the new ride!

Ride Safe!

Welcome and nice set of wheels... Your bike should still be under warantee so get the brake light and high idle fixed (new airbox) on BMW's dime...If your clutch squeels like most of ours, complain about that too! Hope you have fun on it and remember, paybacks are a bitch! Don't let your Dad ride it!!!

You might try the "Master Yoda Riding Position " approach before shelling out big bucks for a new seat.

The idea is to support your upper body with your legs and core, putting almost no weight on your wrists. It also pushes your butt back a few inches, which might make the seat fit better. Or not - but it's free!
