Buying a 1300 - HELP

Hello

I am in the process of negotiating a purchase on a new K1300 GT.. I have bought lots of cars over the years but need help with a reasonable discount expectation on the K1300 GT.

Cars are typically about 11% profit.. What is it for bikes in this price range and what should I attempt to negotiate? Dealer should make money just don't want to be DUMB

Thanks in advance

JD

So far, it seems the biggest discount around is about $500.00 plus whatever rebate BMW may be offering at the time. Also, you can negotiate for the ast 600 mile service which runs $150 to $250, I snagged instead of the 1st service, moving my farkles from my 2006 GT top the new bike. I would imagine it is about $500 or so labor.

Mmm what about trying to find a new 08 1200, I bet you could get a good deal on those.

If there is an expensive accessory you want, you might do better negotiating for something like a tank bag or top case. Your savings is a lot and the dealer gets it at cost, so might be be getting a better deal for something like that,

I got a free large top case on mine (~$900 value).

The thing I have learned that I should have asked for is the free first service. That's the most important one. I will probably do all of my own routine maintenance after that anyway.

I did it, got $700 off and 10% off a realy nice BMW riding jacket.

Rode home from Scottsdale to Flagstaff this afternoon, WOW what a machine.

The torque band of that engine is obscene!

It is will be hard to wipe the grin off my face for while.

Thanks again

PS: My last bike was a CR500.. Angry bike.. after 15 years it going to be a long time before I can really ride this one. WOW!

I just dropped my K1200GT off at the BMW dealer in Scottsdale for a 12K service and the service manager, Louie Franconi who may be the nicest service manager in the world offered to let me take a new K1300GT for a demo ride. I know if I rode it I'd end up buying it so I passed, for now. My old girl is running like a champ and I told them to leave the ECU alone and to not download any of the newer programs as I'm worried the bike won't run right if they mess with it. They wanted to check the valves and again I told them I'd pass as I've read enough posts to know the valves will be fine and I feel it's way too soon to replace the plugs as all of my miles are highway and very little city. Just changing all of the fluids to be on the safe side. They said the gear oil and the engine oil are different which is weird but told them to go ahead.

Leaving Friday for a 1,200 mile trip up to Utah through Mexican Hat, Kanab and then the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Done the route a couple times and it's one of my favorites. if we can avoid the thunderstorms in the are we will be fine and the temperatures look perfect.

Enjoy Utah. I rode up Thursday to meet with some friends and go for a little ride.

And don't worry about thunderstorms. That's what keeps it down below 100*.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
