The 12 is gone, new 13 now sits in garage!

After a year of hassle and unreliability with the 1200, I bit the bullet financially and bought a new K1300GT which I collected this morning, and here it is in blue, waiting for me at the dealers .The colour has flecks in it which positively gleam in the sunlight, looks great!.

For some inexplicable reason the dealer fitted the hugger incorrectly, and removed the OE horn whilst fitting my Stebel Magnum, don't know why they didn't just disconnect it and leave it on?

After my first ride of 231 kms , my first impressions are :

There is a lot more engine braking than on the 1200
It seems to move less in the wind even with full luggage
Throttle response is better than the 1200, and the torque stronger.
Handling seems better, but difficult to know if it's the tyres or the ESA.
I'm not sure about the Bridgestone tyres in the damp/wet and think the Michelins were better.

The first service is already pre-booked in 10 days time, although it won't take anywhere near that time to reach the 1000kms. Hopefully I'll be able to report good news regarding reliability as time and kms elapse, and it should be nicely run in for the end of August when the Euro K Club members come over for a weekend meeting and rides out.

Well spotted! Last pic is back at home where I changed the end caps, added the sidestand extender, re-fitted the hugger correctly, fitted Swiss motorway vignette, and a few other bits and pieces. More "personalised"now!

I'm just over the French/Swiss border with Geneva. An hours flight from Paris, but half a days drive! If by any chance you are near Geneva, or decide to rent a bike here and want a guide for a day, let me know. We are having the EuroKClub meeting here the weekend of 28th August, all are welcome to join!

Cheers

Paul

Congrats on the K1300GT. I'm extremely happy with mine (now that the starter switch was replaced).

My wife grew up in Cologny, Genve, Suisse.

If you are ever in the USA near New York or Philadelphia, give us a ring.

Very nice. Congratulations on the new bike, if the Blue paint is like my Red it changes colrs depending on how the sun hits it. I also like your side bags, the ones here in the US have a reflector, I would have prefered the BMW badging as yours

Enjoy your ride, i!

I'm thinking about changing the reflectors to the BMW lettering. At $15.00 a piece I many have to think about it for awhile! BMW is definitely proud of those badges!

I don't know why anyone would delete the reflectors on the side of the bike, makes no sense, but what the heck ever.

WHAT is a "hugger"???
