Help With 51 Liter Tail Bag

I purchased the tail bag second-hand and I am having difficulty trying to get it to fit on my bike. I noticed the loops on the underside of the bag but they don't seem to fit over the luggage rack. I tried fitting it on in both directions, as the loops are offset from center, to no avail. Also, there is no logical place to mount the tie-down straps to secure the bag.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It looks like a great bag and I would love to be able to put it to some use.

Thanks!

Don't worry it works just fine with your bike. The tail rack will not fit inside the straps on the bottom. Just place the bag over the rack, and use the straps supplied to attach it to the rack in the rear, and the pillon grab rails in the front. Something like the attached pictures, it work like a charm, but make sure in the rain you have the inside sinched and snapped to the top cover.

Have you tried to mount this on the back seat? I have the 49l trunk and would like to have this on the back seat for long trips.

I have never tried to mount it over the passenger seat, but I don't see why it would not fit. I would attach the rear of the bag to the rack, and the front to the pillion grab rails or the the aluminum sub-frame on either side.

Putting it on the back seat would provide better weight distribution and make handling better. Also makes a nice backrest. The last place you want to put weight is behind and above the rear axle.

In the above pictures the Blue waterproof bag I have on the seat is holding a Catoma Conga tent, a folding camping chair, and a thermarest sleeping pad. Once we set up at the site the bag doubled as a cooler holding 2 cases of beer with ice, and man did it get cold. The 51 litre bag in the back is full of clothing, a cycle pump tire plugger. I have to say even with all that weight on the bike It handled great. I had the ESA set on one up with luggage, and the dampening on normal. Once we set up camp, and I unloaded the bike I kept the preload on one up with luggage, but switched the dampening to sport. Made a big difference on the Blueridge Parkway once the bike was unloaded, but on the super slab it's barely noticeable.

I do not believe that the bag will fit on the rear seat without removing panniers first, the way that the bags bottom is shaped the ends sit on top of the side cases leaving the center suspended above the rear seat.

After reading bombtecks post I went out into the garage, and gave it a try. I have to agree it won't work well. The sides of the bags bottom sit on the pillion grab rails, and the center of the bag is suspended about 4 inches above the back seat. You could put something on the seat to build up the hight, but I didn't like the fit at all, too unstable.
