Regretting it already

Just traded my 06 GT 32000 miles of perfect riding - for a 09 R1200GS SE - have always wanted to try one and I was made an offer I couldn't refuse.
I pick the GS up on Monday -
Just been looking at the GT in the garage and wondering ""what have I done"" ??????

If it's not fun - your doing it wrong !!

You will get to smell the roses better (since you will be going half the speed). Hope it works for you. The GS is a cool looking ugly bike.

I have my '06 GT parked next to my '07 GS. GS I ride a lot more in town- way nicer to shift in stop-and-go-traffic. GT for the freeway trips and "playing around". 1985 RT for weekend rides.

THey all have their niches...

GS will spank the GT in the twisties and hills. No reason to be ashamed of it, unless it don't start like the 1300's needing the cold wet-towel treatments.

Last time I had the GT in the shop for service they gave me a GS for the day. Told me to just ride it as much as I wanted to and enjoy. So I did. Spent several hours on everything from dirt to interstate. The first thing I noticed was how much the vibrations from the boxer were present again.....funny how almost 10 years on my old RT seemed to just make those vibrations melt away.....but a couple of years on the GT sure makes them noticeable again. The other thing was comfort and power. While the GS definitely has some good torque and will get up and go....it ain't no GT!

If finances ever dictate having 2 bikes, the other in the garage with out question will be a GSA. However when only 1 will do I have zero regrets with the GT.

I think I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe....but I am NOT a Dental Floss Tycoon!

Thanks guys, this thread makes me feel a LOT better about my decision to keep my '07 KGT and add a F800GS (farkled up to ADV equivalence) to the mix.

The KGT remains my favorite bike, but there's some things she just shouldn't be asked to do.
