Front Strut Replacement?

I have a set of Wilbers on the way for my '08KGT. Has anyone changed the front strut? If so, any warnings, advice, pictures or tips you'd like to offer?

Thanks. I plan to document the installation and will post it here and other places. Right now I am fabricating a plate I can bolt up to the motor so I can hold the bike up wiht the front end tilted up in the air.

I'm looking foward to dumping the ESA (again) and equiping this fine bike with the kind of suspension it deserves.

Photos and instructions will be up toward the end of Oct.

Cheers!

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Not quite 13K. The ESA is not failing and in fact is better than the ESA was on my RT. I am just ready to experience all the bike can be with a set of shocks built just for me.

A little invasive but if interested and according to the rep rom you need to:

Remove the front and rear seat

Remove the complete engine spoiler

Remove the left and right side panel

Install engine lifter

Disengage ZFE control unit

Remove the air intake pipe

Remove nut from leading link

Disengage bracket

Disconnect plug and cables

Lift the wheel up until you touch the oil cooler

Push link down until strut is free

Repeat in reverse to assemble and as always you will need some special tools

Are these WIlbers that will work with the ESA, or is yours a non ESA bike?
