I got a new PR2 I'm getting mounted this Friday!
Got a good deal through that online store, 175 delivered. Born on date, week 1 of 2009, is that fresh enough?
I got just over 6000 on the stock BT whatever, still a little tread left, but would be bad if I hit heavy rain.

I broke my left leg in a crash back on July 27. Last week I graduated from crutches to a cane. Things are looking up!

8*F when we left home for Moab...70's here in Moab. Did just shy of 500m yesterday: Moab/Hanksville/Needles district of Canyonlands/Moab. Yesterdays highlights: cruise control works at 115, ABS worked just fine when a big buck ran across the road, and had a Utah state trooper going the opposite direction wave 'hi' ( I was going 80 in a 55 and didn't see him as his radar was off). Life is Good.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.

I've been stuck in Chicago all weekend taking taxis every where we went and thinking how insane I was to ever ride 2 wheels around a major metro area. Traffic sucks...saw one poor SOB on a FJR all suited up stuck in 5 lanes of non moving parking lot and 35 degree rain. Took 2 hours to get from Ohare to downtown.

Here in MT the night we left we had wind chills down below 0 with sideways snow. F'ing BURR! Definitely not rdiing weather. But it's blown through now so maybe I'll get a window and be able to escape to the southwest for a while. I need at least one or two more good road trips before winter really sets in.

I rode from Southern California to Gerlach Nevada on Friday, and then from Gerlach to Vancouver Washington on Saturday. I took the scenic route for a total of 1165 miles.

The desert and mountains northwest of Gerlach are stunningly beautiful in so many ways. Of special note were Abert Lake and Abert Rim. U.S. Highway 395 runs approximately 25 miles along the east side of the serene, reflective lake, right next to the massive, flat-topped escarpment, which rises a nearly-vertical 2,500 feet above it. Wow.

Also notable were the Deschutes Canyon and Deschutes River. U.S. 26 falls down one side of the canyon rim to reach the river at the bottom just northwest of Madras, OR. The views of the canyon are spectacular, but you have to pay attention to the road, which is cut out of the cliff. The heavily forested areas around Mount Hood were delightful, too.

The temperature in Gerlach was 41 F when I left, but quickly dropped much lower, bottoming out at 22 F going through the Surprise Valley. Fortunately it was dry all day, even around Mount Hood and Vancouver.

Drove to SF Oct 1st, flew to St Louis for Farm Aid.
Drove from SF to LA Oct 5th. Been down here since then driving/working in the port.
Driving home after this storm blows through.
This driving is really getting me down.
The roads up north will be all nice and washed by the end of the week and I plan on riding more than a few days on the new/old R50/2 as well as hundreds of extra miles on the GT.
Then off to Honolulu for more work before the holidays.

An honest man's pillow is his peace of mind.

I went to court last week in Asheville, NC for doing 93 in a 60 zone. Thought for sure I would have to get a loan to pay this ticket but 2 hours and $130 later I felt pretty good considering most of the people in court where there for getting caught with drug paraphernalia. My drug of choice is speed. I aplogized to the judge and he sent me on my way. Of course, I drove my K1200GT to court.
