GIVI E55 on a GT

does anyone have GIVI E55 on a GT or one of the other bigger Monokey top cases on a GT?

I have been thinking about one with lights and such and was wondering if anyone has tried it yet and their thoughts and pictures

Thanks

Steve

I have the Givi E52 Maxia 52 liter.
the R1200RT is the same mount as the K1200GT I modified the mounting plate from my R1100RS to work, it is mounted more forward and is better as a back rest for my wife.

+1 on teh Monokey E52 on a GT. I mounted one with the adapter plate they sell. I also got additional rear lighting from AdMore Lighting, which I have yet to install. It will provide rear running lights, and brake lights as soon as I get the courage up to hack into the light wiring. I'll post pics tomorrow of how it looks on the GT. I go tit in gloss black to match my painted 08 GT and people stop me to say how cool it looks.

Can you explain how the adapter plate interfaces with the rear rack on the bike? How does it attach to the rack? How hard is it to take the adapter plate on and off, or is it meant to stay on?

thanks

Supplied with the mounting plate is universal mounting hardware. I've mounted at least 10 top boxes on an assortment of bikes. After the initial install it will take 5 to 10 minutes to remove or reinstall, but is not nessessary, its just a plate, you can still strap stuff to your rack without removing it.

Here are the pics of the mounting plate, themounted Givi E52 on my GT and the two last shots show the bottom of the rack and how the mounting plates attach under the stock tack.

While the plate is removable in a few minutes, I never take it off because I quickly got used to how it looks without the topcase. I got the bag in gloss black to match my black painted GT. While the rack comes off/on in ten minutes it is a bit fiddly. If you only plan to use the topcase once in a while you could remove it.

I found I use the topcase more than I originally planned as it so nice to have the extra space for a spare jacket, helmet or computer in a bag.

Thanks Larry, do you remember if that mount is the E193? I sent GIVI USA a email and they said they did not have a mount for a 06 GT.

does the case come off the rack with a quick disconnect?

The rack on the R1200RT and on the K1200GT is the same rack. Givi's rack mount for the R1200RT works perfectly on the K1200GT.

As Soggybottom said when the case is off it is essentially a flat rack (flatter than than the BMW). The "tabs" that mount the case actually seem to hold things in place better than the bare GT rack.
