Question Top Speed that you have gone on GT?

If this is in appropriate I'll delete...

Just curious of the top speed anyone has obtained on their GT.

Mine....160mph indicated
Nevada..no traffic except for a friend on his Kaw Concours
It still had more but I was affriad of the sidebags and their drag.

Did you have a GPS? If so, what was the mph on the GPS? 142mph on my Zumo 550.

150 gps indicated, with bags, trunk, and an AeroFlow screen. And yes, you can run a full tank completely out in just under 160 miles. Good thing I always carry a spare MSR bottle or two . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

You know, this is a great idea. Thanks Ken. Never thought of it but I've got a couple that I never use since I went to ISO when backpacking. Too many times I've been at pucker factor in the middle of nowhere running on fumes.

OK...145 mph on my Zumo.....fully loaded with bags and still room on the throttle etc....and the Laminar Lip held just fine. Though I didn't maintain it for long. But I have often cruised in the 90 to 100 range across the west and for sure my mileage drops considerably.

My zumo read 140 and the reason I slowed was my Magnetically mounted XM puck mounted under the windshield broke free and was bouncing around. The guy I was with, who post here, was pulling away on a nequally loaded 06 GT, I think he got 153+ or so......

The speed limit. However my Garmin zumo 550 did report 300+ mph.

I've heard of that guy!

However, I would never break the law ans speed. However, I don know a guy I REALLY trust that said 153 was the best he ever saw with the bags on and that was on a hill! Mid 140s is the standard for flat terrain and long runs. (He crosses Nevada twice a year in the middle of nowhere.) 163 with the bags off and it was right up to red line. I wouldn't know if it was still pulling at that speed of course, since I wasn't there!

Once, he almost ran out of gas in just 140 miles (1 hour 5 min.) He was sweating it pretty good and slowed down a good bit the last 50...

GEEZ, well I can't match you guys. My son and I (on twin '07 GTs) did 140 GPS indicated once. I had full bags, trunk, and the windscreen up to max height. I know it had more left, but we ran out of room.
