cannisterectomy related to tank vent fault?

The dealership just hooked up my 07 GT today for diagnostics and it reported a "tank venting valve" error. I told them I would bring it back tomorrow and leave it for the week to be fixed. However, when I got back home it dawned on me that it's probably throwing the error because I removed the cannister (and it's associated parts). Is this correct? I hate to leave it at the shop for something it doesn't need. Or worse yet, have them charge me for the labor (rather than warranty) since it was my doing.

I talked to them at the dealership and they acknowledged the fault being thrown by the cannister removal and seemed to be fine with it. Thanks for the reply Grif
