Rear Drive Lube

I changed my rear drive oil and this is what the spline looked like. I put some moly grease on it. Doesn't that look a little dry? It had some silver grease type compound on it that looked like anti-seize. Is that what the dealers use? I purchased the bike used from Max BMW in NY and was told a full service was done. Which I'm sure some sort of lubricant was used.

Run over to your nearest Honda shop and get a tube-about 12bucks- of Honda spline -moly-paste. Best stuff you can use and tube will last you another 3-4 bikes.

Lube

I used Maxima waterproof grease. It was purchased at the Honda dealership a few years ago.

I don't remember that washer?
Need to do it again in a few weeks... I'll check!
Is a new one advised?

I did the lube after my 600 check - i think I had about a 1000 miles maybe a little less, as you can see from the pictures there was no lube from the factory and the washer was in great shape.

It is about 2mm thick so it is rather robust

Mine had some sticky white grease in it.

I cleaned it up and used the Honda stuff.

Haven't been back in yet to see any changes. Plan on checking every 3k miles when I change engine and rear drive oil.

Your bike - you can do what you want - but 3000 miles seems a little early - I do mine every 6K for all the bikes. YMMV

I will be using the BMW Synthetic Oil (flamesuit on) so dumping $52 of oil every 3K is not something I want to do
