Question 3M Reflective Tape....Where to get it

I am looking for the reflective tape for my saddlebags. This is for a 2010 K1300GT. I found it for the other BMW bikes but nothing listed for the KGT1300. Anyone know where I can order a set from?

A little googlefoo is your friend here... to many hits to list....

Pep Boys also has plain red, white and red white tape at my local store.

Look at cyclegadgets.com. Either the R1200RT or '06+ K1200GT will fit. I think they have the kit for just the inner box side or for both inner and the lid. I am sure there are 2 pieces per lid that have to be stuck on.

Are there different grades of reflective tape?

Ideally, the tape I want has the following properties:

* Highest possible reflectivity at night.
* Does not detract from the overall appearance of the bike. Some reflective tapes are dark (black) in ordinary daylight.
* Weatherproof - does not fade, peel, or lose reflectivity with long exposure to sunlight, rain, or a wide range of temperatures.
* Doesn't damage paint, plastic, or any underlying surface where it is applied. That would include my bike, my side and top cases, and my helmet.
* Easy to remove or replace, without leaving residue or other marks. (Or the residue is easy to remove with a product that doesn't damage the surface.)

Is anyone out there who knows about this topic that can point to an easy comparison of reflective tapes? (And yes, I have searched the web. 3M's own website wasn't very helpful for me.)

I get my reflective tapes and fabrics from www.identi-tape.com, their website does tend to be a little more informative than the manufacturer.

That said, I don't think I've ever seen any information about the kind of adhesive used on any manufacturers reflective tape.

3M Reflective Sheets

White Horse Gear has it in rolls.

When I bought mine they showed me a great trick to position it just right and get all the bubbles out...spray the surface with Windex lightly before application. It allows you to slide the 3M Tape exactly where you want it, and then smooth out the bubbles. The Windex will evaporate overnight...Great stuff to increase your night time visibility.

SOLAS, that would be "Safety Of Life At Sea", so most probably also available from Marine Equipment Suppliers or Boat Shops.

Several companies make precut decals for the 1200RT and 1200 GT 2006+. They fit the 1300GT perfdectly. They cut one decal for each of the saddlebag for the non shiny surface. I added a few other reflective tapes around the license plate area so I am more visible from the rear and the addition of the BMW supplental led flashing brake light makes the bike highly visible. The precut decals are black but reflect in white.....
