Question k1200gt 5/08 updates

hi to all from downunder
just a quick question. as my warranty runs out in may 2010 i was just wondering is there any updates or issues i should be raising with my dealer before it expires. info is very hard to come by down here, where just not in the loop i guess.after reading several posts and issues relating to my model i just want to make sure ive done everything possible beforehand as ive read it can be a costly down the track otherwise.also on the final drive posts relating to the drain plug position my bikes build date is 5/08 and it only has the fill plug ,no drain after all ive read has anyone got a clear explanation behind the logic

So, this would be your first BMW, then?

"Ve haf built ze pefect final drive und zere is no neet fur ze drain."

"But Hans, the final drives are failing faster than we can find replacements. There is a serious design flaw that needs to be addressed immediately."

"Nine! Ve do nut make mistakes! Zey must be riding it wrong."

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Question?
Does Austrailia have a different warranty program than other parts of the BMW
empire? I thought BMW bikes came with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.
My 08 K1200GT is also built in May 08, but I just purchased it "new" in Nov 09
and the warranty is good until Nov 2012, when did u get ur bike?

Yes. My UK-bought BMW had a 1-year warranty. While my US-bought BMW had a 3-year warranty, but with a 36K mileage limit. So my GT was officially out of warranty in just under a year due to mileage, even though I had 2 years of time left.

i bought the bike second hand with 13000 ks on it from a dealer in sydney in november 09.he told me that they only come with 2yr warranty, with an option to extend for a further 12 months ($550). so far the bike has been flawless(touch wood).your bike had any dramas ? same colour as yours

Drama?
Picked it up Nov 21/09
Snowed next day/and has stayed since
So it sits in garage with 50kms on odometer
and I am going nuts waiting to ride it.

And my boy has gone to Aus/NZ for 6 months
and calls every 2 days to brag about the weather

Heres hoping we get an early spring,... thank god I found this website
so I can at least learn a few things about it
