Saddlebag Hardware Update

After I had my 2009 K1300GT for a month, the right saddlebag started getting harder and harder to open until no matter how hard I pressed on the button, it would not open.

At that point, the dealer replaced the entire inner bag under warranty, and that has worked fine ever since.

Then recently, they noticed (without my even mentioning it) that my left bag was starting to get harder to open, so again without asking, they ordered what they said were new mechanisms for both bags - supposedly redesigned to work better?

Anyway, those went in last weekend, and they are both working very well. Anyone else heard of this redesign?

It's a recall so don't buy them, have your dealer install them. If you remove the inside cover to get to the mechanism and the box is not upside down the thing falls apart!

Just a trick I found with mine, push the button and give the paddle a "Fonzi" (reference the "Happy Days" TV show) pop with the palm of your hand ant it pops right up. It's not from the button not being pushed far enough down by rather the paddle sticking.

At least this is what worked on mine.
