K1300GT auxiliary LED brake lights compatibility

I was just informed from my local dealer that my BMW Auxiliary Brake LED Patrol light is not compatible with my 1300, while it works on the 1200 ( slightlydifferent brake lighting sysytem?)
Anyone been able to do it on the 1300?

I am now going to attempt to hook up the Skene P-3 LED lights instead.
Anybody have any experience doing this ?

I'm not sure what a LED "Patrol" brake light is but Mcoccia just installed that large LED Aux light below his license plate and it works fine. He and are both running LED Hyper-Lites as well back there.

The secret (if it is one) is that power needs to come from a 12 volt relay rather than just your brake light due to the sensitivity of the CAN-BUS system. Perhaps he meant the light that you own since newer models come with a relay.

Almost sounds like a product off the Police bike.

Is it this?

Yes, that is the one. Is it working on your 2009GT? If sao, my dealer told me a lot of BS.If so, where did you take he power from? and are you following the rest of the instructions as to where to tap into the brake light circuit?

That's actually on my buddies 2010 1300GT. The power was picked up over at the powerlet connector on the side of the bike. The new model lights come as "Can-buss" ready in that they have a male/ female plug so you pull the plug off the back of the powerlet receptacle, plug in the light and then connect the power into the other end of the supplied pigtail.

Your dealer may not have been incorrect if he said "your" light will not work, this is the latest model of that light.

My GT is a 2010 same as 2009. Call Cross Country BMW and ask for Bill he will give you the Part Numbers of the Light and wiring harness that is needed for your bike.

I have this mounted along with the Hyper lights and think it's a great setup.

Are you referring to the rectangular accessory flashing rear brake light as was offered for the K1200RS/GT? I have one of those on my 04 GT and I'd like to put one on my K13GT but have not been able to find a part number or source. Anyone have the info?

Thanks,

GTRIder
