Bill Mayer Seats

Bill Mayer Rocks

I looked up all the seat threads I could find on this and other forums and decided that Bill Mayer was the man for me. I called and spoke to Susan for some specific details I needed and shipped the seat for my K1300GT. They received it on February 10th, today is the 16th and my NEW SEAT is back in Dallas looking great.

I have not taken it for a ride as of yet, that work thing is getting in the way. I find this level of service to be rare in todays world and wanted to share it with the group.

Thanks Bill and Susan

Trailers are for sissies!!!!

Bill Mayer Seats

You must be warned that around 1500 to 2000 miles some thing will happen.
You will find that you no longer think about the seat.
You also will find that your rides will be getting longer.
You will find some thing else to complain about.

It is sure to happen.
You have been warned.

Enjoy.

Roger

I rode my first Bill Mayer Saddle from Long Beach, CA to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and back. That was on an '05 1200RT. When the time came, it was only natural to replace the torture rack that came on my GT with another Bill Mayer Saddle. I can't say enough good things about my seat! Pure comfort.

Well I'm not Barry, but here's my Bill Mayer seat that's now been on the bike for 115K miles. Ignore the large, round, black backrest.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I'll join in the praise session for BMS. The crew was good to work with (did a ride-in), the cost reasonable considering the custom fitting and leather covers, and results excellent.

We're short of full break in but I did get in a stop-for-gas-only run to Phoenix last week. Didn't think about the seat until mile marker 300, shifted my rump a bit, then didn't think about it again until pulling up at my destination at mile 405. By comparison the stock saddle would have been annoying by San Bernardino, obnoxious by Indio, and had me contemplating walking around Blythe.

Very pleased.

Here are twenty pics from a ride-in fitting. A few weeks after that, I rode from Mexico to Canada in 32 hours.

You're welcome. The pics show only part of the process. The pics don't show the many times I sat on the bike for fitting checks, nor the test rides with the prototype seat. The pics don't show how they skillfully shape the seats with various tools, or find the hard and soft spots and adjust them, or many other steps.

The rider seat and passenger seat are customized to their users, including their specific riding styles. The rider seat was designed to support the variety of riding that I do, spanning short commutes to long distance endurance rides. The passenger seat was designed for short local rides. I brought photos of my wife, including some of her sitting on the original BMW passenger seat with the bike on the center stand. Even though the seats were made last June, she tested the passenger seat for the first time last Sunday, and it was an excellent fit. (Why it took so long for her to test the seat is another story.)

P.S. The people in the photos are Adrian (mustache), Candice, and Bill "Rocky" Mayer (with the mustache and goatee). Susan (not shown) works in the office and is likely to be the person you talk with by email or phone.
