Smile Just sharing my summer plans

With the purchase of my used '06 GT in '07 I got my wife to ride distance with me for a 5k mile trip in the summer of '07. We had a great time. Last year had other problems but this year a week on the road is planned.

Heading east to Durango, Colorado though Yosemite NP, Nevada, Capitol reef NP, Mesa Verde NP, Durango, Monument Valley, Zion NP, Vegas and Yosemite again.

To help in my comfort my wife suggested I get a full riding suit instead of the jeans and my trusty leather jacket. So I bought the new Rev-It Sand jacket and pants. Of course now I feel like a space man but hey that's alright.

Is it time to leave yet???????

Sounds like a great trip planned. The way my wife got more comfort was she now rides her own bike which is good and bad. Make sure you do trip report when you get back.

Sounds like a great tip you have planned. That Revit Sand suit is beautiful too, so you will be styling when you dismount.

Just Sharing my summer plans

What can I say,,,when are you leaving and how many of us can join you?

Last summer I spent two 9 day trips to your area, well sort of, that being Mindon Nevada.
I'm sure you have riden all those great roads over those mountains. I sure enjoyed every one of them.

Now your planning on going through my favorite and closer to home country.
May I suggest highway 12 between Torry, Utah and Bryce Canyon. Stop at Boulder and take highway 1668 south and east for 20 miles or so, then return to Boulder. It is a very special little side trip.

Other than that have a great and safe trip.

Oh yes, keep your eyes open for the hidden places, photo from highway 1668.

i wish i could have a vast country like yours. fortunatelly now europe is an open space, no borders or visas. in june i will leave home heading to geneva swiss, from there downn to the sea through "routes des grandea alpes" ended with the city of menton on french riviera. will stay in the area for 5-7 days then back home in 3 days via venice- graz- vienna- budapest.

Hey Doru, I've ridden through both areas: all over the Western US and through the Alps and Western Europe. Although I went pre-Euro, so switching countries and currencies was still a bit difficult at times.

You have some fine roads out that way, which are nothing to be ashamed of. They are truly world-class.

The furthest east I made it was Austria and the Czech Republic (on the bike, anyway), although I've always wanted to ride further east one day . . .

Oh, and if you do make it out this way at some point, you have a willing tour guide.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I do 12 a couple of times a year. Is 1668 paved?

Highly recommended

Do not miss Highway 12, from Bryce to Capitol Reef. I did a similar trip in November. You're gonna have the time of your life!!!
