Extended Warranty

I am buying a 2007 K1200GT from a private party and the factory warranty expires in June. Dealers have advised that BMW does not have or sell extended warranties unless you buy the bike from them under a "certified" BMW dealer program.

Where can I buy an extended warranty for this bike?

WOW, That is cheap!!! I just applied to see what it would cost me for 3 years and it was over $1200 from the same company...

WOW is right, don't know what to tell ya there. Tomorrow I will dig the papers out and give you some more info. This was in may of 2009, I wouldn't think they would have gone up that much.

Some of the prices go up as you get closer to the end of the factory warranty. Also, there may be a huge increase if the warranty has already run out.

And buyer beware, I've heard of guys getting "cheap" aftermarket warranties, only to have the warranty company go out of business . . .

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Have you priced a final drive replacement lately? Just the parts alone are more than the entire aftermarket warranty . . .

I checked my policy again. $714. for 4 years, unlimited mileage with a $50 deductible. I had my regular insurance guy which is a good friend check the company out before hand and he said it was a sound company. Don't know what to tell you about the $1200 policy. Maybe it's the area. I did however call them and did it over the phone.

Check out the policy and what it covers. Some are bare-bones, some cover the bike as if it were the factory warranty.

I've heard this once ... "So, you have the class "A" extended warranty. Shouldn't be an issue replacing it with no cost to you".

Western Contract has "A", "B", and "C". "C" is the cheapest.
