Considering another k bike

After selling my k1200r for a more subtle and easy to tour on bike, I MISS BMW
I need one.. I have some big plans for this summer and i feel as if the 07 k1200gt will be perfection on wheels.. What are some of your personal reviews? anything inparticular i should look for? besides obvious oil leaks and play in FD.. Do they have any common electrical issues? Has there been a fix for that funny problem where you cant start the bike it gets into a security mode or something??
Thanks for the help and just need a little push from you guys to go get it..

Great bike. The no-start issue (EWS) was resolved with a maintenance campaign at the dealers. If you give them the VIN of a bike you want to buy they can tell you if the fix has been applied to your prospective bike.

If you are set on getting a 2007 K1200GT, keep in mind that there are some differences between the "early" 2007 K1200GT and the "late" 2007 K1200GT. Here are some of them:

Seat: The early 2007 has the "2006" seat. Many (most?) riders feel that the newer seat is a vast improvement in comfort over the early seat. The seats are a matched pair, you can't have a 2006 front with a 2008 passenger.

Options that are available only on the late 2007 K1200GTs:

TPM: Tire pressure monitor. Others may disagree, but this was and still is a must-have feature for me.

ASC: Automatic stability control. A 2007 K1200GT with this option is very rare.

Xenon: HID headlights are another must-have feature for me. Xenon HID headlight retrofits for K1200GT are popular. Aftermarket parts are available for $100. Search the forums.

Would you happen to know the month build date that is considered to be late 07?
Thanks for the good info

My '07 GT was built in 01/07 and delivered in March 2007 and has the ASC, TPM, and Xenon light.

Usually, BMW starts a new model year in August of the year before (so 08/06 for the first 2007 bikes). I'm not sure exactly when the above features were rolled into the build process, but it was before January 2007.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Great bike. Needs an adaption time, but the more you ride it, the more you appreciate it.
I thought to buy the new k 1300 s, but after a test ride I did realize how good the gt is for a general use.

Today is a beautiful day to ride. Go buy it and take it home today. What dealer are you planning or do you have a particular privately owned bike in mind?

When you go to look, the features should be obvious. If they aren't touted by the seller, then look for the following:

Seat:
Go look at any current model (2008 and later) K1200GT or K1300GT. If the seat is significantly different, it is probably a (more uncomfortable) early model. Here are two threads discussing the seat difference. There are pics, but I can't find a pic of the top of a 2006 seat.

http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8495

Xenon:
If the reflector says "XENON" in the corner, then the bike has a factory-installed Xenon HID. If the headlight is HID without the label, then it is an aftermarket HID, which is fine.

TPM:
Look for "Sensor Position" labels on the wheels. When you cycle the BC, you will see the TPM display, but it doesn't show tire pressure until you start riding. The display may take a few seconds to appear.

ASC:
There is a large separate switch on the left handlebar labelled "ASC". It is enabled by default. Press and hold the ASC button for several seconds to disable it.
