K12 seat -v- K13 seat...are they different?

Am thinking of moving from the LT to a second-hand K1200GT. I have ridden both a K12 and a K13 for extended periods. On the 1300 I didn't even notice the seat, it was basically totally acceptable to me. The K1200, ridden the following weekend, was a different matter....the seat sucked totally after 30 miles of the ride from Chico to Pleasanton.

Was this imagination or are the seats that different? If they are different, does a K1300 seat fit a K1200?

TIA.

Might depend on the year of the GT, do you remember what year it was? There was a change during the 07 model year I believe it was, and I sort of think that the late 1200 seat is probably the same as the 1300 seat.

The early k1300gt seats were proportioned differently. Also the one you rode might have been broken down due to wear compared to the new K1300gt seat. If you like that seat you are fortunate because many do not and go aftermarket.

The GTs manufactured after Nov of '06 had the redesigned seat that has continue to the present 1300 GT. Basically the driver's seat pan is longer by about1.5 inches and can be identified by two tabs on the rear of the pan instead of one in the center of the early design. The passengers seat is proportinatly shorter and has a steeper angle at the interface with the rider's and a small rise in the middle of the flat surface between the passenger's legs. I hope that this helps.

Thanks everyone. I took a look yesterday at the dealer and its a late 06 bike, registered 07 with a two-tab rider seat, Xenon headlight setup. So looks like a goer on that account.

Now I just have to convince myself that no cruise control is OK - its the only GT I have ever seen without cruise and I said once I'd never buy a touring bike again without cruise. There again, it is New Zealand which only has about 100 miles of real freeway all up.
