K1200 GT 06 Plate - Recall Notice

Has anyonelse had a recal notice for the Replacement of the Relay lever??

Got a letter from BMW this morning saying that in order to monitor quality, blah , blah, invariably there may be an occasion where a potential fault is identified, blah , blah, by the way the relay lever might brake! Should a break of the lever occur, the handling of the motorcycle will be severely affected .

This looks like a fairly major component to me, and probably not the easiest bit to replace, but hey BMW will do it for free.

Anyone had these letters?

OK, maybe I'm brain dead this morning or haven't had enough coffee. What's a "relay lever" ?

I believe that it's a part of the rear suspension assembly that transmits force to the rear shock. It has a bearing that can possibly freeze up due to corrosion (due to being constantly sprayed by any water coming off of the rear wheel), and if the bearing freezes then the lever arm can be overstressed and break. That would be bad.

There's a thread about it around here somewhere.

I just had the part replaced under warranty at my 6K service - 1/2 hour job - no big deal. it is a lever that is part of the swingarm that apparently tends to collect water and may rust. its been discussed before on this forum.
