Thread size in stem?

I recently acquired a strap-mount tank bag and was looking for a good place to secure it around the handlebars. There really isn't unless you want to pinch the wires are hamper the steering.

I was thinking about installing a hex-allen bolt in the stem and then putting the strap around the bolt, but I have no idea what size it is. I have nothing in my bin o' bolts in the garage that would fit it. Does anyone know what size metric bolt will fit inside the steering head threaded hole? I have an 07' 1200GT.
