Keeping the bike pass the warranty

Simple question, will you keep your bike pass the warranty peroid? How does the K1300 hold up over the long haul? Figure 50K + miles. What major expenses am I looking at?

Thanks for the help

I plan on keeping mine as long as the stalling issue doesn't return this summer. I WILL have an extended warranty though .

Great question, 6 months ago I would have said (and did say) Hell NO I wont keep it past warranty, too many things to go wrong, too fragile a bike and dealer is too expensive, its strictly a warranty bike.

Now 6 months later, no issues and I can't imagine living without this bike. I test rode some bikes over the last month and there is nothing even close out there.

I bought mine out of warranty, so I guess I'm keeping it.

My bike fits me so well I will replace it when it falls apart, or I fall apart.

When in doubt, apply more throttle.

I ride them until they are worn out. My Honda Magna lasted 21 years. I hope the K1200GT lasts that long. Furthermore, I hope I am still riding and ready to buy the next great motorcycle when the time comes, too.

I do the same thing, except it doesn't seem to take me as long to get to that point as some other folks . . .

I've got the 2007 K1200GT and I love it. I have 68K miles on it and I plan to ride it until it falls apart. I have an extended warranty and I have to say that it was probably the smartest purchase I've made (well, next to the bike).

I should say that I just got it back after six weeks in the dealers service department. Long story short... part broke in the engine and bounced around causing all kinds of other damage. Six weeks later and the warranty company paying $5400. I got it back. Almost a new engine.

Enjoy!
