Larger Mirrors

Are there larger mirrors that can be fitted to the K1300GT? The current mirror size does not provide a panorama of traffic behind the bike. Are there aftermarket mirrors or other appraoches to increase visibility to the sides and rear of the bike?

I don't know if there are alternate mirrors available, but I doubt it. I get by just fine with the stock mirrors, making sure they are turned out wide so that I maximize the side view (as taught in all my safety classes and books). I can see the lane directly behind me, but just barely.

Some riders use the small round stick-on spot mirrors to get a wider view and eliminate blind spots. They come in many sizes. Would those help?

You might be able to stick some mirrors off a GS onto the switchgear as they have the mirror holes in them. Maybe some sort of rectangular aftermarket mirror? I did that on my old RT as I often carried a huge Mag's Bags U-shaped thing riding two-up and they were out far enough to get a rear view mirror.

Time to see you dealer and ask.

That would work for the K12GT, but the K13 bikes have revised switchgear without the unused mirror mount holes.

I've not heard of anyone else adding extra mirrors to a K13GT, but you might want to see if there's a pair of Saeng Quick-Scans that would do what you want.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Yes, they do help. I use 1" diameter stick on mirrors. Here's a pic with the location on the mirrors:

Black Cherry. I had it painted that color after a low side a couple years ago. I hated the original ugly silver. Thanks to my insurance and a great paint/body guy, I love this color!

Really pretty color BTW - while I like the dark blue on my 08 K12GT I hate how quickly it gets dirty...
