Pictures from my track day

No, the K12GT is not an ideal track bike. And yes, it was a lot of work pushing her around. But she's my only bike and I had a blast!

I attended Fishtail riding school at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway with my riding club, The Yankee Beemers. It was my first day and I really enjoyed getting a better feel for my bike in a controlled environment. The track is pretty compact and twisty and is referred to as a "point and shoot" track. The smaller, more nimble bikes were eating me alive in the corners, but a guy on a Ninja 600 complained he could catch me on the straight!

The straight isn't very long. You come off a tight S turn entering the straight, so you can't build any speed into it. Most times I would just wind out 3rd gear on the straight. I could get up to 4th, but then it's a double downshift and a lot of brakes headed into turn 1. That was more excitement than I wanted to justify the 2 seconds of warp speed in 4th gear.

Looks like fun! I'd like to do a track day but would rather use a lighter, more nimble bike. Sure would be fun on the GT though!

Looks like a lot of fun and what a way to hone the riding skills. I would want a track with as long straight so I could really stretch the 150ponies!

Meh, I ran my K12LT on a track day. Had a blast, and found out exactly what that bike's limits were.

I also ran my GTL on a track the day after I picked it up. It's a good way to get to know whatever bike you happen to be riding very well.

Come to think of it, it wasn't too long after the LT track day that I started looking at GTs . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
