RCU Designs Shelf? Others?

Any of you guys use one of the RCU Design Shelves? Hows the stability? Does it shake like crazy or pretty rock solid?

http://www.rcudesigns.com/

I've had a Big Mak shelf now for 60+ k and it shakes pretty bad. The only thing I have on it is a Zumo 550 and XM puck. The Zumo is now dead again for the third time. (Digitizer) And I'm not going to replace it a 4th.

Thinking of a Zumo 665 but want to improve shelf stability first so I don't rattle the damn thing to pieces. There's just no way to do that with the current Big Mak design.

Any other shelves out there I should be looking at? Don't want a ram or between the bars mount. I'm so used to looking straight ahead at the Zumo and not down I don't want to lose that.

Open to suggestions.

Thanks

At one point, Mark at BigMak added a couple of vertical stabilizer bars to his shelf setup.

I did the same thing with my custom shelf, going from the front corners of the shelf down to the top front screws for the side panels. That eliminated all the vibration.

I have decided I am going with the BMR shelf here shortly. I had one on my RT and liked it a lot. It already has the vertical supports plus lets you come up with more possibilities to mount crap...I mean stuff..

I had a RCU shelf. Very stable. I liked it. Had to remove when I installed an Aeroflow windscreen.

I've been riding with the BMR shelf for over a year and find it functional, stable and the design hides the side supports very well. Compared to the others I've seen I'd buy it again in a minute.

Yup, got 1 complete vertical for the left side. No screw to mount it to on the right. Plus 2 - 45 degree braces down to the top sides. But it still shakes like crazy. I've tightened it up as far as possible and it's only so so. It's shaking the gps apart.

GPS Bracket

Check out Gadget Guy. Recently I purchased a bracket for my K1200GT, it is rock steady and I am sure you will be pleased with it.

The bar is wide enough to put 2 gadgets on it with no problem.

Check out his website, he has quite a few pics to provide a good sampling.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,
Thanks, but looking at what I believe to be the correct site I don't see anything that mounts above the dash for the newer GT's. Did I miss something? Got a link?

Robert,
It's not exactly a shelf, but I purchased and installed the Wunderlich GPS mount on my '08 K1200GT which is sandwiched between the dashboard under the windscreen. It puts the GPS in a "heads up" kinda position. I love it! No holes to drill - straight forward install.
