K16 Wheel Removal ?

I got a question from a traveler on ADVrider on wheel removal for his K1600, he's a noobie.
I don't have a K1600 but if the procedure is the same as the K12/13GT then I'll post him
the procedure we use.
Anyone know?

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Front wheel procedure is identical to K12/K13, rear wheel is slightly different in that you dont swivel the exhaust out of the way but you do need to remove the mudguard/no plate carrier.( 4 bolts up underneath), wheel then rolls out the rear.

Thanks K,

I've sent the new guy front wheel removal instructions Meese posted some time back plus
your comment on the rear fender. The guy is a Brand New rider from LA, K16 is first bike,
he took BRC and launched on a ride to Alaska. He's stuck in Fort Nelson BC with a
worn out rear tire. A local biker is going to change the tires out for him and it seemed wise
to send them detail on the K wheel removal.Bike was a demo with 2800 miles on it and he's
6000 into the trip. Tire started leaking and TPS alerted him to it. The ride report is on
ADV

Hard to imagine buying a K1600 as the first bike and then launching a ride to Alaska.
The kid's got guts!

I was on the AlCan in May and its in great shape. But its not I5.

Yep, what Ken and Tim said. Don't forget to torque the studs to 44 ft/lbs or 60 nm!
