Looking for a bike shop

Well here I sit in an hotel 550 miles from home, and an apparent loose / broken wire in the handle bars. The bike will run, but the electrical power keeps intermittently shutting off, with increasingly frequency. Any one know of ANY repair shops close by that could be of help?
I am on I80 a 50 miles east of Davenport (Sheffield IL. 61361) Thanks, Tom Hall

Heard lots of good things about Gina's BMW in Iowa City, IA, 117 miles from it:

Which way are you going, or trying to go? Sturgis? Home?

I am riding a 2007 K1200GT, Was heading towards Sturgis, now I'm heading to towards "repairsville". A car or any bike shop with an open mind should be able to find and repair this wire problem. Last night when the bike went completely dead, a bang on the handle bars brought it back to life.

Thanks for the heads-up on Gina's, Gilly.. Just looked at their wed page,,,, open Tue to Sat. An open minded Car repair shop should be able to handle this wiring problem. Any body know of one in the area? Thanks

I believe if you search this site there were similar incidents about some connector on the back side of the ignition switch that comes loose or a broken wire near there. Someone else may recall it better than I. Might also be the round key sensing anti-theft antenna too.

Ain't breaking down on the road fun? U-Haul and/or towing from Auto Club has been great for me.

How are you making out? I imagine you came up with someone local by now.

This is what I was imagining, at least if you could get it to Iowa City you'd still be heading in the right direction, rather than backtracking to Chicago. I also believe Gina's has a better rep than the Chicago dealers.

Life is good again! After a good home style breakfast, I asked the waitress I she knew of a good local garage,,,,, she sent me 20 miles down the road to "Ince's Towing". So this 20 year old kid goes and checks my battery,,,,,,,,,, and low and behold he finds a loose battery cable.( the things I used to know)
