Deer vs. GT: (Its over for me!)

Well, my GT days are over, at least for now. I hit a deer in Utah a couple of weeks ago, and it is official, the bike is totaled!

It was a sad end to a bike that had finally become reliable. I'm not ruling out another one, but I'm gonna shop around a LOT first!

I'm a VERY lucky boy!

No, I mean I gotz MAD skillz!

Either way, I rode it about another 8 miles before it finally ran outta water and was gonna run out of oil, so I stopped.

Final minutes were with about 124,500 miles the odometer.

I'll try to put together a better ride tale in the future...

Sure!

Define small:

(to be fair, although it was a mule deer, it was not full grown)

DUDE! Holy shit! I hate them.

But SO glad you're OK!

Scary stuff indeed. Dumped my new GSA a week ago at 40~ish...walked away bike is fixed but scared the shit our of me. First major F'up in 1/4 million miles or more. Put another 2000 miles on it afterward.

Any how...hope you find a new bike. I absolutely love the GSA btw. It fills a void left from the GT. Wonderful machine.

So how fast when you hit it anyway?

Again...glad you are OK.

Thanks!

About 50... Felt slow until I hit it!

A GSA is on the short list, but I'm really gonna miss that K power!

Hmm, what's the insurance want if you keep the dead bike? I still need an engine for my '07 GT . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I thought so too. But in all honesty the twin has more than enough real world power 97% of the time. The other 3% of the time I probably shouldn't be riding like that any way! Need to pass quick? Drop down a gear and hammer it and it goes no problem. And just cruising plenty of torque and then some.

The GT is in the garage right next to the GSA and doesn't get ridden too much any more. I find the GSA to be more comfortable too. More leg room. Better upright position. Plenty of weather protection. I just did 3500 miles on it and it was a pleasure. And it's WAY easier to work on. 300+ miles to the tank is really cool and it opens up lots of territory I never though about on the GT.

Any how good luck 124k it was time for a new machine any way!

Thanks Ken,

I will ask in case you are interested.... the thing didn't use even a drop of oil between changes (7500 with synthetic) and I didn't let it run out of water or oil...

Let me know!
