Rotor issues

I have an 08 1200gt that I bought used and the rear tire had been run with low pressure so it was cupped, which I thought was causing a vibration especially noticeable under firm braking. I changed to new Michelins and the problem persisted, which of course means warped rotors. I understand now this is a common problem with the "next gen" and the solution appears to be $650 in parts for a retrofit Kit plus labor if you have the dealer install. Anyone had this problem got a better solution?

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Common problem? I got a whole list of them. But the rear brake rotor is not one of them. Can it happen? Sure. But there's a lot of bikes out there with a whole lot of miles still on the original rotor. Not a common issue.
