F$%R&#& Locks!

I want to rekey a set of side cases for my 2008 K1200GT to my ignition key and have looked at this website (http://www.ebbo.org/re_keying.php), tried what they said and am still having zero success.

Boy talk about over engineering to make it ridiculously annoying! If I had hair I'd be yanking it out... Any other suggestions before I cart these to the dealer and have them charge me hourly to do it???

Thanks,
Jeff

The service secretary at my dealer did mine for me while she chatted on the phone. She didn't charge me. I gave her $20 for her help. It didn't look hard, but I didn't want to do it.

When I asked about it 2 years ago when I bought my bike there and I acquired a 49L case they told me it would be an hourly charge. I'll check again as I've already spent a solid hour fiddling with it.

Hate to do things when I can't see what I'm doing

It can be very difficult/frustrating the first time but isn't so bad once you get the hang of it. Trouble is most owners only need to do it once.

Yeah, well I tried doing it myself last spring and it didn't go to well, with tiny parts falling through my fingers. Brought it to the dealer and they did it in less than one hour(ignition, both side cases and top case).

After an hour of putzing around I brought them to the dealer. Ended up costing me an hour of labor and (2) new lock cylinders so $169 after tax...

Yup...

Don't know what I'm gong to do when I switch out bikes and want to keep my top case. I bought it via internet from Chicago BMW. They then walked me through re-locking it to my keys with over the phone instructions.
But I think they went out-of-business.
