Question Experiences with K1300GT's?

Hello all,

I have an '04 K1200rs--I absolutely love that bike. Have a brand new 2012 Harley Road King in garage that needs to get sold because of the RS as the Harley never gets ridden now. Question is, how do people like the 1300GT? I had chance to pick up a 2010 with less than 6K on it for $14K. That sound reasonable?

Sounds like a reasonable price.

Take it for a test ride and see how you like it for yourself.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Opinion?

I just bought a 2009 K1300GT and can't say enough good things about it. If you can get a K13GT Premium with low miles for $14k you are getting a good buy. Make sure you get the warranty and have all of the service bulletins including the cam chain jump guard complied with.

This is my 4th bike as I also have a 1980 CBX, 1983 CB1100F, and a 2004 Low Rider.I am selling the HD because of the K13GT.

Awesome machine IMO!

I love my2009 1300GT. For more than 4 years. It is much better than my KRS, which was the former best bike.

Garage
I owned a 2003 K1200RS and later, a 2007 K1200GT. Genuinely loved the RS, particularly the riding position but got the 12GT to get that screaming slant 4 engine.

The GT power plant is far superior to the flying brick but I never could get happy with the riding position on the GT. In my opinion----the GT had a very poor seat design that I couldn't fix with a Corbin or Sargent seat. I tried both.

Of course, seats and riding position are very personal preferences....put some miles on it and see what you think. Good luck with your choice!

I just did a 750 mile day and got off and could have gone longer. First bike I could ever say that. I have an 2002 krs. Totally different beast. Personally, I like the brick K torque in the mountains. This engine is ok too, but you need more rpms to get the same torque. ESA is a dream

Don't ever ride a K1600 then. It gives more than the K12GT's max torque at under 2K rpms, and then just keeps on climbing from there . . .

Yeah but it weighs a lot more too. In real world performance is there really any useable acceleration difference. Don't know the stats on the two but I'd bet they're similar. Maybe less gear changes. But hey...ride the top end in the first place and that's not an issue!

Dunno Robert, the K1600GT pulls like a freight train. Reminds me of my 1198S but with a lot more bling.

I do miss my K1200GT as it was easier to throw around. Great bike if you get one of the good ones.
