K1200GT WTH is this thing?

Riding the bike to work this morning I was stopped at a light and looked down between the engine and the right side plastic....and I am not sure why I looked in there...but I saw this thing which looked like I left a socket on something and then realized I didn't have a socket on the bike recently...

I believe I could have seen this shiny piece of metal sticking out before

Can anyone tell me what this is?

It's a mount for the black Styrofoam baffle on that side. Where is yours?
