BMWMOA Spread on the new K1200GT

The gang over at the BMWMOA has a nice spread on the new K1200GT.

http://www.bmwmoa.org/features/k12gt_press.htm?pg=1

It looks like a web reprint of the BMW AG Press Kit for the K1200GT

Wow.

Thanks for posting the link. Finally, some really great pictures of the GT. For the first time, I looked at the GT and thought, man, that's a sweet looking motorcycle. Can't wait for May!

It's nowhere near as sexy as my Black 03 KRS. Fast and lots of cool gadgets, but it just doesn't grab me yet.

After seeing and sitting on the bike at the Atlanta IMS, IMHO, I am convienced that this is the new LT. Lighter in weight than the current LT but still a light truck. Instead of looking fast and swelvt, it looks fat and lumbering. The new body work has no style. I think I will go with the KS instead.

Odd. Seems most others who have seen it comment on how slim it is compared to the "old" GT.

The new LT? I think not! Perish the thought of old geezers trading in the LT for a GT. No foot pegs to rest their vericose vein inflicted legs, no power centerstand for their frail bodies, and no barcalounger seating for their fat asses. If the new GT cannibalizes any BMW sales, it will be from the R1200RT and ST, and K1200S camps.

Like it or not, this is the bike we all wanted, styling notwithstanding. It fits right into the lineup where the previous GT fell short.

I'll take mine in Crystal Gray, please!

Hey, hey, hey! Step away from the keyboard.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but several of us who have LTs are looking at the GT very closely. I don't know offhand who else here is riding an LT and looking at the GT or has one on order, but jpalamaro and I both are LT riders and have our GTs on order. At the dealers I have talked to, the pre-order deposits are pretty well distributed 50-50 between BMW and non-BMW owners. And the BMW owners are predominantly LT owners (some RT owners and some S owners). Interestingly enough, when I asked about RS and current generation GT owners, a couple of the dealers told me these guys weren't even interested. Which sums up much of the comments that we've seen in regards to the new GT.

BTW, I'll take mine in Dark Blue, thank you very much!

Ditto that....some good improvements (more HP really needed?)....but I'll stick with my '04 and hope they refine the styling in upcoming years.
Would like to know in what critical areas the previous GT "fell short". Unless you own both, it's just a half-ass opinion.

'04 GT...Orient Blue...Staintune...Ohlins...Power Commander

And now with these new pictures, I feel like the GT looks like a mismatched pile of salvage parts. Man, that's a hideous motorcycle!

Make mine Dark Anthricite Metallic, thank you very much.

Oh, and the 'S' will remain in the stable, 'cause I share it with Michelle.
