Advice on buying 500 mile, K1300

Hi to everyone. Have really enjoyed looking at all the threads here and the vast knowlege. Looking at an very nice low mile, 2010 K1300. Only 500 miles on consignment at a somewhat local dealer. Almost purchased a K1300 back in 2011 but life got in the way etc. Have ridden the K1600 and even though I like it, I am still drawn to the K1300. I know about most issues. My question is what would you do by way of making the deal. The dealer is asking $17,000 but I am sure I could get it at a better deal. Been on his floor since last summer. Three year warranty is avaliable. Says all recalls will be done befor it is sold. What do you guys thinK? Can someone give me a check list of what they might want to be checked before I think about purchasing. I know lots of used K1600s are out there with the same price. Just like the size and weight of the K13. Wish they still made it. Thanks to all.

A bit high to me...but not by a lot .....Depending on what warranty is included and if all the recalls are done, grab it. You won't regret it.

Don't believe everything you read....

...except that BMW maintenance is expensive...that part is true.

If you can do your own oil, tires and brakes....your golden.

I do wonder though if the bike has a clean bill of health? 500 miles??? Rebuilt? Last owner died in the garage and didn't get noticed for awhile?

curious..

Regardless of miles, which is suspicious to me, it's a soon to be 6 year old bike that new was about the same price. They are 5 k too high. Drive it home and wholesale is south of 8k

Bike looks good, price is way too high.

I paid $18K for my '09 K13GT back in 2011, just over 4 years ago.

Retail on those is closer to $12,000 these days. Maybe $13,000 for a pristine example straight from a BMW dealer . . .

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Thanks for all the replies. Bike is at a reputable dealer. The story is that the bike was sold by the same dealer and the owner has medical condition so he can not ride. I was thinking it was about 5 or 6 k too high. Pushes me into the K1600 hunt. Like I said, still like the K13 and think it was a big mistake for BMW not to keep on with it. Has me looking at a triumph trophy which is positioned between the R1200rt and the K1600. Might go and make an offer after I ride it. Three year warranty is about $1,600 which would be nice to have. You guys having good luck after the issues were worked out?

My K13GT was flawless on an 11-day 49-state ride, covering all types of terrain and all kinds of weather. The only issue I had with it was a small final drive leak. New seal put in under warranty, and it still runs great today.

My K12GT was far from flawless, but all of those items were fixed with the K13.

I just looked at a 2010 K13gt about a month ago now. Bike had 11,xxx miles on it. Super clean, very pretty, bags, had a top case, no scratches, all options etc. Had not had the recalls done on it but had 6K service done. Dealer was asking right around $13K can't remember exact price now. I really, really wanted it. I figured I was going to get it for around $12K. $17K seems a bit high. I don't see much difference in 500 or 11,00 miles. That's worth maybe a grand. Unfortunately after riding the bike a bit I just didn't trust it. I've owned 60+ cars and 30+ bikes and can smell a bad one.
Beyond that they had a 2012 K16 that I barely even noticed. Didn't care, didn't want one, didn't even bother to sit on it. Then the wife said 'that one's cute, why can't we try that one, I like it'. Took the 16 for a ride and brought it home.
I didn't want a 16 because of the 'its a big beast' thoughts. And yes it is a big beast. As an only motorcycle for around the City all the time its a bit much. I have multiple bikes so I can ride something else in town.
However, I have been experimenting and riding. Here are a couple thoughts. Fully dressed yes its a beast and you might as well think of it as riding an old wing on steroids. With the side bags OFF and only the trunk installed its not bad at all whipping around town. I actually like it as a good configuration. With the side bags and top case OFF, its no more cumbersome than riding my K12 or CBX. The bike has great handling, responds fast. I have to say that I have no reservations recommending it for putting around / short trips. You might want to actually take a look at a K16.

Wow. That is probably the kind of information that I need to hear. Sent the dealer an email and said I would be willing to consider $13k on the bike, otherwise I will give the K16 a real good look. Spending $17k on the K13 is really not reasonable considering what is out there in the K1600 used and new market. What is the difference in the K16 from 2012 to 2015 if anyone can tell me?
