Long Distance GT ride to begin today

Heading to Red River, NM today. I should be able to get in about 2500 miles total for the trip. I decided to pick up the 49 liter topcase. WOW! It's friggin' big. But now I don't have to stuff things in all sorts of places. And my dealer gave me a good price on it, so I don't feel so bad.

Thumbs up

Hi El Jeffe,

Sounds like a great run. Looking forward to the ride report when you get back. We also decided to go for the large topcase. I think you could almost fit a spare bike in there! Have fun.

Your right it is big, but useful!

I had a Givi 52l top case on my '03GT, the Givi case is nice but the BMW 49l case is excellent. While I like the look of the bike w/o the top case mounted better, since I use my bike as a daily commuter, and I don't like to run with the side cases on, this makes for a very functional addition. Enjoy your ride to Red River and ride safe.

I couldn't believe it when I first saw it, but my parts guy put in two full sized full face helmets in there, and it closed and locked. Amazing. And it doesn't look to bad on the bike.

I'm an old Givi guy, always used the big 50L Maxia's, but I ordered the big BMW top case too - same one that is used on the R12RT. I just couldn't bring myself to put my ugly old Givi on the back of a GT, it's too pretty.

I also got word from the dealer that the one with my name on it is built, and on it's way hear, but another Crystal Gray is being xfered from another dealer and it's mine of I want it.

Enjoy the ride!

Jeff,
2500 miles on the GT... Looks like a lot of fun! I wish I could take some time off and ride too. Did you buy the bags for your topcase as well?
We look forward to your feedback and pics.
Safe ride,
