Hi All, I have owned my `07 k1200gt for 10 years and am just signing up. I love the bike and am planning on keeping it
a while. I need to fix a couple of issues, the brake failure light is on, the cam chain tensioner needs help and the clutch
bearing squeaks. I am in southern Maine so it won`t see the road for 3 months

Welcome to the forum. Wow, so you got the bike new? Very nice. How many miles? Do you plan on doing your own wrenching? I find BMW bikes a pleasure to work on.

Hi , I bought my gt lightly used with 2300 miles on it, now showing 48k. I do much of my own work, tires, oil changes
and other routine work. I had my local dealer check valve clearances. I bought it when it was 3 years old so i have
only owned it 7 1/2 years (i used to be able to count...)
I think I would like to bypass the abs module, is this something that anyone does?

Hi and welcome.

Re the brake light. Are the pads actually needing replaced or did the light come on with plenty left on the pads? The light went on on my bike a few weeks ago and there was plenty left on the front pads. It turns out it was a wire that was starting to break/ perish. I found the break soldered it together and the light stayed on for a bit but then just went out. I was going to reset it with my GS-911 but turned out it reset itself.

re ABS check this post. The module is so easy to get to on the K series and you can fix it for free, why would you ever think of removing it

My GS just failed for the second time (bad repair by the people who did it before I read the link above) the bike is stupidly inferior without it.... stock it had demon brakes, without they are awful, very hard to judge grip, locks either wheel whilst still not slowing at all.... I've been riding bikes for 40 years and brake very late and never had an issue on any bike.... but the GS is dangerous without its ABS2 (same module as the K1300 by the way)
