Idleing Issue?

Just got back from a 150 mile ride. After coming to a stop sign I noticed the idle would be at 1250rpm and sit there for a couple of seconds, then it would climb up to 1750, hold there for a moment, then drop back to 1250rpm and start this over. The bike would not hold a constant rpm wether high or low. Bike has 650 miles and is scheduled for servicing on the 25th of this month. Any thoughts?

had idle problem as well since new, was too high, about 1800-1900 rpm. problem was the idle valve, it showed on the computer. once changed everything went to normal, idle stays at 1000-1100 when engine warm. ask the dealer to change that valve, there is no way fixing it. once valve replaced bike needs computer calibration. also check free play in throttle cable.

Doru, Thanks for the information about the idle valve. I do have a lot of slack in the throttle cable. Thought I might play with the cable and try to take out some slack. The throttle has become very sensitive and I am having trouble holding a constant low speed. The bike is as sweet as can be at highway speeds, maybe it just doesn't like coming down to mere city speed.

the slow speed problem is due to that idle valve combined with engine not fully breaked in. now at about 5000km have no problem at all controlling at any speed. low speed was also jerky on mine due to throttle cable. it was too loose, fix it myself. take care, there are 2 cables, one is pushing (deceleration) one is pulling (acceleration). leave some play on both but not much make sure is about same play on both. idle must stay at 1100 rpm.
