Centre stand Removal

Can anyone give me advice on removing the springs on my centre stand??..... I want to paint it...... Also some thoughts on how to paint it?? I have a compessor so i could spray it..... or I could hand paint enamel?....... Powder coating is an option but its expensive and time consuming.
Any thoughts appreciated.

If I remember I just pried the springs off. Getting them back on was the pain in the a**.

Be very careful. But its not that difficult...hey I did it and I'm no genius mechanic.

You could try the old coin trick to stretch the springs prior to removal/replacement. Here's a YouTube video to illustrate:

There are other videos and other methods (e.g., spring stretching tools), but pre-loading the springs with coins, washers, or something similar is quick and easy. Give it a try.

Garage
When you have to fight springs, needle nose Vise-Grips are very handy. Also, do not do this on the lawn. When springs start flying, it's all over but the trip to the dealers. %^D
